Κατά κύριο λόγο, η μελέτη επικεντρώθηκε από την αρχή του έτους στην κοινωνική, φυσική και αστική 'παρέμβαση' ως την ευρύτερη έννοια που βιώνεται μέσω διαδρομών μέσα από καταστάσεις μακρο- και μικρο-  κλίμακας στο αστικό περιβάλλον. Από το 'οικιακό' ταξίδι από τη σοφίτα στο κελάρι, από το σημείο Α στο σημείο Β στην πόλη, το ταξίδι αυτό δεν είναι ποτέ ομαλό. Πάντα διακόπτεται από τις άμεσες σκέψεις μας ανάλογα με τον τρόπο που βιώνεται.

Όταν ήρθαν οι ιδέες στο Cork, το αρχικό μου ενδιαφέρον ήταν να κατανοήσω τον τρόπο με τον οποίο η σύγχρονη κοινωνία δρα παράλληλα με την ιρλανδική μετανάστευση και το θέμα της μετανάστευσης στο Cork συγκεκριμένα, διακόπτωντας το DNA της πόλης. Μέσα από μια σειρά από από καρτ-ποστάλ προσπάθησα να αναδείξω το θέμα αυτό και τις πτυχές του. Έτσι, προσπάθησα να το κατανοήσω μέσα από τον πειραματισμό με την πόλη του Nottingham με στόχο την ανάπτυξη μιας δημιουργικής απάντησης στα υποσυνείδητα ερεθίσματα (δηλαδή κάθε αισθητήρια ερεθίσματα κάτω από το απόλυτο όριο ενός ατόμου για συνειδητή αντίληψη). Υπό το πρίσμα αυτό, συνειδητοποιώντας πρακτικά τι μένει έξω από το ταξίδι μέσα στην πόλη, δημιουργήθηκε ένα πείραμα που θα μπορούσε δυνητικά να φέρει ενδιαφέροντα συμπεράσματα για τον δρόμο ως περιβάλλον. Τέσσερις μαθητές κλήθηκαν να  με ακολουθήσουν σε έναν απλό περίπατο μέσα από έναν δρόμο. Μετά τους ζήτησα να εξηγήσουν διαγραμματικά τι θυμούνται. Αμέσως, μέσω διαγραμματοποίσης, είναι προφανές ότι υπάρχουν ορισμένες περιοχές του δρόμου που έχουν παραμεληθεί ή δεν ανακαλούνται στη μνήμη. Αυτοί οι χώροι, όπως απεικονίζονται μέσα από την απο-συρραφή και επανα-συρραφή του δρόμου, είναι ανεπιθύμητα κτίρια και τυχαία σοκάκια/κενά, "απωθητικοί" χώροι που υπακούουν στην κουλτούρα των 9-5 γκέτο. Ως εκ τούτου, η σημερινή πόλη αποκαλύπτει ελαφρώς ένα δίκτυο από μη εξουσιοδοτηνένους χώρους, διασκορπισμένους ανάμεσα στα κτίρια. Αυτό το αποκαλώ την Απούσα πόλη μέσα στην Παρούσα, όπου τα κενά συνθέτουν ένα σύστημα μη εξουσιοδοτημένων χώρων, οι οποίοι είναι άμεσα συνδεδεμένοι με το περιβάλλον τους, καθώς υιοθετούν το υλικό του και κάποιες φορές  γίνονται μια παράταση των λειτουργιών του.

Primarily, the focus and main interest of my study from the beginning of the year was the social, physical and urban interruption as a wider concept experienced through journeys through the macro- and micro scale situations in the urban context. From the domestic journey from the attic to the cellar to the wider one from point A to point B in the city, this journey is never even. It is always interrupted by our immediate thoughts depending on how we experience it.

When moving our ideas to Cork, my initial interest was to understand how its contemporary society performs in parallel with the infamous Irish migration and the rising issue of immigration to Cork specifically interrupting the city’s DNA. Through a series of postcards my attempt was to showcase this issue and its aspects. Thus, my attempt was to comprehend this by experimenting with the city of Nottingham aiming to understand and develop a creative response to the subliminal stimuli (i.e. any sensory stimuli below an individual's absolute threshold for conscious perception). In this regard, to practically realise what exactly is left out of our journey through the city, I formed an experiment that could potentially bring up interesting conclusions about the street as an environment. Four students were asked to follow me on a simple walk through a street. Afterwards I asked them to diagrammatically explain what they remember. Immediately, by layering the diagrams, it is evident that there are some areas of the street that are neglected or not specifically remembered. These spaces, as visualised by de-collaging and re-collaging the street, are unwanted buildings and accidental alleys/voids, uninviting spaces that obey to the 9-5 ghetto culture. Therefore, the present city slightly reveals a network of unauthorised spaces scattered in-between buildings. I call this the Absent city in the Present one, where the voids when extruded compose a system of unauthorised spaces that are directly connected with their surroundings, as they adopt their material existences and sometimes become an extension of their function.
